About
Biography
I'm fascinated by how we form an understanding of quantum topics and inclusive pedagogical approaches. Throughout my career, I aim to find the best ways to teach quantum science and technology topics in formal and informal learning spaces and support the development of a diverse quantum workforce. My work also focuses on debunking misinformation about quantum sciences and building public awareness of these topics.
Since 2018, I've been involved with science communication, outreach, writing, presenting, content creation, and education, covering quantum physics and equality, diversity, and inclusion topics in STEM. I now work as an Outreach and Engagement Officer at the National Quantum Computing Centre. In this role, I am dedicated to making quantum computing accessible to a wide range of audiences by combining my technical background in quantum technologies with experience in science communication and education.
Before pivoting into quantum education and science communication, I was a photonics and quantum sciences researcher at the University of Surrey's Advanced Technology Institute. My research area was in experimental condensed matter physics, and I focused on developing III-V semiconductor spintronics devices for quantum technology applications. This involved studying quantum transport and spin-orbit interaction in semiconductor heterostructures and developing direct-write fabrication (maskless lithography) techniques for the fast prototyping of quantum nanodevices. I also hold an integrated master's degree in physics, during which I worked in R&D at the Centre for Integrated Photonics, developing semiconductor-based high-speed electroabsorption modulated lasers.
